Romanovs

The royal family

It's incredibly, but I could not even talk about the Romanovs few years ago. Subject of Imperial Russia was closed. We were brought up in Soviet-style non-acceptance of the royal history of our country.

Looking at these pictures, I see the family. I see people, the era, which is far from me.

All photos from the archives of Anna Vyrubova. Anna Vyrubova was the nearest friend of the Empress Alexandra Fyodorovna Romanova. Anna Taneeva-Vyrubova left  Russia with her mother in 1921.

She took thousands of pictures of the royal family from Russia.  

This is only a small part.

A student at Yale University, Robert D. Brewster bought six albums of photos and some letters ofAnna Vyrubova.

The woman was in need of money, and probably it was the only way to survive. Anna Taneeva-Vyrubova died in 1964 at the age of 80 years.
